On first impressions Hotel Sumber Alam is full of charm—traditional Sundanese-style wood, bamboo and thatch bungalows lining lotus and koi-filled ponds with a backdrop of gently rolling hills, and the welcoming charming staff certainly add to the experience

Unfortunately though, the rooms themselves don’t quite live up to expectations and are not particularly well maintained. Sadly this seems to be the standard even in higher end hotels in Cipanas, but of the options available, Hotel Sumber Alam still has more appeal than many of the alternatives.

A vast array of rooms types and villas are on offer, with some that sleep up to 18 people and include private swimming pools or whirlpools. A number of the bungalows are styled with low furniture or split levels which may not be suitable for less mobile or clumsy folk. Amenities include TVs and minbar and all enjoy thermal spring-fed Western-standard bathrooms.

The room we viewed was clean enough although it could have benefited from a good of a scrub and a bit of maintenance. Among the walkways and ponds a bamboo pavilion houses the hotels’s restaurant serving an included buffet breakfast, with other meals available, a pleasant spot to sip a coffee and enjoy the surrounds.

What is truly impressive at Hotel Sumber Alam is their vast open-air hot-water swimming pool. The pool is partly covered by a sun shade, though while it wasn’t needed on the cloudy day we visited, would be a bonus when the sun is shining, as there is no other shade. Non guests can enjoy the swimming pool for 35,000 rupiah which is very popular with locals—a swimming class was in progress when we visited, but even though it was a large group it took up a very small section of the expanse of warm water.

As large as Hotel Sumber Alam is, it is often full and as it’s very popular with local groups, booking is advisable. In a similar vein, Banyu Alam Resort is a less expensive, but also a little more run down.

Semua bungalow dilengkapi dengan bak mandi dan shower, dimana Anda bisa menikmati mandi di dalam air panas belerang dari gunung berapi terdekat, yaitu: Gunung Guntur.

Suite Arileu adalah bungalow 2 lantai dengan kapasitas 4 orang , terdiri dari 2 kamar tidur , lantai atas dan lantai bawah dilengkapi kamar mandi, di halaman tersedia kolam private.

“Villa kawung” bukan merupakan bungalow yang dibangun diatas kolam ikan (balong).“Villa Kawung” lebih mirip Apartemen Studio yang unik berlantai dua tanpa dapur.

BUNGALOW SICEEH (AREA BELAKANG)

Tipe Bungalow ini kapasitas untuk 2 orang, dengan komposisi kasur twin share, dan cocok untuk keluarga kecil jika ditambah dengan Extra Bed, berlokasi di area belakang sekitar 250 meter dari lobby dengan suasana alam yang asri.

Junior suite adalah bungalow 2 lantai dengan kapasitas 4 orang , terdiri dari 2 kamar tidur , lantai bawah dilengkapi kamar mandi, mini pool dan view ke kolam ikan.

Babakan Siluhur bukan merupakan bungalow yang dibangun diatas kolam ikan (balong). Babakan Siluhur lebih mirip Apartemen Studio yang unik berlantai dua tanpa dapur.

Tipe Bungalow ini sangat ideal untuk 2 orang dan cocok untuk keluarga kecil jika ditambah dengan Extra Bed, berlokasi di area depan sekitar 40 meter dari lobby dengan suasana tradisional
