Select a .csv file, press "command + i" (Get Info). Change "Open with:" to Excel, click the Change All button.

want .csv to always open in Excel

After my laptop got formatted, .csv files are opening only through Notepad. I want .csv files to open with Excel always.

For this, I tried changing its default app to Excel, but unfortunately got no option like Excel as an app to open .csv files.

I would also like to share that I have Excel installed on my laptop, here are the screenshots:

As suggested in comments below, I right clicked on the .csv file, but got no options to open them with Excel. Here are the screen shots of the same:

I even clicked on more apps, but got no option like Excel.

Before step 1, please ensure you're right clicking the file while it's in view in the Finder, not your list of Downloads in your web browser

Procedure:

Right-click on an Excel File (.xlsx, .xls, .csv, etc)
Click on Get Info in the pop-up.
Click Open With if the section isn't already expanded.
Click the dropdown and choose Microsoft Excel
Click Change All...
Click Continue when the Finder asks you if you're sure.

Now any time you open a file with that extension, the Finder will automatically open it with the app you've selected.

Click on Start in the Taskbar on your Windows desktop.

Choose Default Programs in the left menu.

Click ‘Associate a file type or protocol with a program’.

Scroll through the list of file types until you locate the CSV option, then click it once to highlight it in blue.

Click the ‘Change program’ button at the top of the window.

Click the Microsoft Excel option under ‘Recommended Programs’, then click the OK button.

From the list of ‘Recommended Programs’, choose Excel.

Any CSV file you click to open with now open in Excel automatically. If you don’t want to open it in Excel, right click on the file and choose ‘Open with’ to select a different program.
