With Facebook always changing though, it can be a challenge to create one. So, in this article, we’re going to look at how to create an album on Facebook.

How to create an album on Facebook on desktop

If you want to create a Facebook album from a desktop device, follow these steps:

Open Facebook.com and log into your account.

Navigate to your profile by clicking on your profile picture or name in the menu on the left, or in the top bar on the right.

On your profile, select “Photos” from the menu at the top.

In the “Photos” section, select “Albums”.

Click on the “Create Album” button in the top left.

You can adjust the privacy settings by clicking on “Public”, or you can leave the album privacy settings as private.

Now give your album a name in the “Album name” field.

Add photos or videos to your Facebook album by clicking on the “Upload Photos or Videos” button (or drag and drop photos or videos into the middle of the screen).

Once your photos/videos are uploaded, you can add a description to each individual post, as well as tag people, and locations, and add a date when the photo was taken.

When you’re happy, select “Post” in the bottom left corner.

How to create an album on Facebook on mobile

To create an album on Facebook mobile follow these steps:

Open the Facebook app and log into your account.

Tap the photos/videos icon to the right of the “What’s on your mind?” section.

Select the photos/videos you want to add to your Facebook album and tap “Next”.

At the top, tap on the “+ Album” option.

Now select “+ Create new album”.

Give the album a name in the “Album name” field and adjust the privacy settings if you wish. Then tap “Create”.

Add any additional information to the post and tap “Post” to add the photos/videos to your new album.

Alternatively, you can also create a new album by visiting the photos area of your profile and adding a new album. You can then add photos/videos to the album, or move existing photos/videos from other albums to your new album.

Can you rearrange albums on Facebook?

No, you cannot rearrange albums on Facebook. The albums are sorted by the date they were created. In the past, it used to be possible, but now it is not.

You can, however, rearrange the photos within an album by opening the album and tapping on the “Edit” button in the top right corner. Then you can tap and hold on to a photo to drag it to a different position.

To create a shared album on Facebook, you will follow the same steps as you would when creating an album from a desktop or mobile device. The only difference here is that you will add users as contributors to help manage the album.

To add an album contributor follow these steps:

Navigate to the album by selecting the “Photos” tab in your profile.

Select “Albums” at the top.

Scroll to find the album you’re looking for, and then select the 3 dots icon in the top right corner.

Select “Edit album”.

In the “Add contributors” field, start typing the name of the user you want to add (they need to be your Facebook friend first) and then select the person from the list that populates.

Then click “Save” at the bottom.

Note: You can add up to 50 people as a contributor to a Facebook album.

How to create an album on a Facebook page

You can create an album on your Facebook business page, just as you would create a normal album on your personal Facebook profile.

This is how to create an album on a Facebook page from a desktop device:

Open Facebook.com and log into your account.

In the menu on the left, select “Pages”. If you do not see it, then select “See more” and scroll to find it. (Alternatively, your page may also be in the “Your shortcuts” section beneath this area.)

Under the “Pages you manage” section, select the page you want to add the album to.

In the top menu bar of the page, select “Photos”. If you cannot see “Photos”, click on “More” to open the dropdown menu.

In the “Albums” area, select “+Create Album” in the top right corner.

Give your album a name in the “Album name” field, and then select photos by clicking “Upload Photos” or dragging and dropping the photos to the center of the screen.

You can then add a description to each individual photo from the box that appears beneath, as well as tag people and locations, and you can drag the photos around to place them in whatever order you prefer.

Once you’re satisfied, select “Post” in the bottom left corner.

This is how to create an album on a Facebook page from a mobile device:

Open the Facebook App and log into your account.

Select the hamburger menu (three lines) in the top right corner.

Tap on “Your X Pages” to open your pages.

Select the desired page from the options at the top.

Select the “Photos” tab.

Under the “Albums” section, tap the + by “Create album”.

Give the album a name and then tap “Create” in the top right corner.

Now to add photos to the album you’ll need to open up Facebook from a mobile browser as you cannot add photos to an album through the Facebook App, FB Creator Studio, or Meta Business Suite.

Navigate to your album from the mobile version of Facebook in a browser and then tap on “Add new photos”.

Select the photos you want to add, and then you can tag people and a location as well as add a caption to the images.

This process will hopefully be improved by Facebook/Meta in the near future, in the meantime, I recommend adding photos to albums for your Facebook page by using a desktop device.

Is there a limit to the number of photos you can add to a Facebook album?

The maximum number of photos you can add to a Facebook album is 1,000. If you plan on exceeding this amount, you can create up to 200 albums and spread the images across them.

In total, you can add up to 200,000 photos to Facebook albums on your profile.

If you plan on using Facebook as a free photo storage site, this can be very useful, remember to set the album privacy to “Only you” (unless you don’t mind others seeing it all).
